Marmaros is a piece largely created by slowing down the theme of the Miss Marple murder mystery Murder Ahoy so that it stretches to an hour in length. The tidal flow of the music in and out makes us feel as though we were adrift on an entire "ocean of sound" (pace David Toop), and so mirrors a night-time investigation aboard a ship. In June 2006 I collaborated with dancer Katarina Mojzisova on a seven-hour performance titled O1. Over at the Theatre of Noise I have an article that gives an insight into the development of this piece, plus photos of the event. Here is an excerpt from the resulting 4-CD set. Of course this can only hint at the flow of sounds, largely based on reconstituted piano and paper samples.
Anamnesia Part 4 is part of an unreleased project that decomposes the word "memory" into many mangled, twisted forms. In this case granular synthesis is used to cut the sound into thousands of discrete temporal units. Rather than reassemble them smoothly, the glitches are allowed to remain. Sometimes it is the space between sound that makes meaning.

Here's something I've been working on for some time, which I premiered at the Mamuska Night last Friday 6 October 2006. The Future Leaks Out by escalation 726 incorporates samples from the incomparable Bill Burroughs, whose methods I studied closely about a decade ago. Pieces based on his tape techniques may be found on my first CD, Device for the Transmission of Electrical Energy Through Air.
The music derives from some sketches I did in the mode of Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft. Their home page is annoying, but the album Alles Ist Gut is indispensable.
David Byrne and Brian Eno have opened up the twenty-four track masters of two of the songs from their landmark album My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts for public remixing. Unfortunately, after working many hours on a version of "A Secret Life", the site will not permit its upload. Neither is there an email address for problems and the forum is a spam haven.

The discovery of the trans-Neptunian object 2003 UB313 threw the very notion of "planet" into confusion. After three years of debate it has been defined to not be a planet, but in order to do so Pluto has been defrocked as well. There will be much changing of science books.
